ImageSilo Informational Message – Mar. 19, 2018

Date: March 19, 2018 (Monday)

As outlined in our communication to our Reseller partners on February 27, 2018, we were anticipating the availability of the new R84 features on ImageSilo to take place the week of March 12. Due to our extensive validation process, we were unable to complete the upgrade to our servers until Friday, March 16, at which time we noticed a configuration error which caused us to halt the upgrade. Since addressing the configuration error, we have been working to optimize the performance of the browser-based viewer. Once that optimization process is complete, https://login.imagesilo.com will be switched over to the new R84 release. For those wishing to experience the new R84 features while we continue our optimization process, feel free to check out https://test.imagesilo.com (please note that this is only a temporary testing site that become inactive after the upgrade is complete).

Please feel free to contact ImageSilo Administration with any questions or comments.

ImageSilo Maintenance Notification – Mar. 23, 2018

Weekend Stage: All day, from Friday evenings through early Monday mornings.

Start Date: March 23, 2018 (Friday)
Start Time: 20:00 (MDT)
Finish Date: April 2, 2018 (Monday)
Finish Time: 04:00 (MDT)

Weekday Evening Stage: Only evenings (20:00 MDT) through early mornings (04:00 MDT) each day, Monday through Friday.

Start Date: March 26, 2018 (Monday)
Start Time: 20:00 (MDT)
Finish Date: April 6, 2018 (Friday)
Finish Time: 04:00 (MDT)

Purpose: Consolidate SQL databases for non-Data Delivery customers.

Customer Impact: In preparation for our upcoming SQL Server upgrade, we will be consolidating SQL databases – transferring customer database data from their shared/multi-tenant databases into fewer shared/multi-tenant databases. For each entity, this process entails temporarily disabling the entity, ensuring no automated operations (i.e. import, etc) are processing, transferring the data, optimizing database indexes, and re-enabling the entity. Each entity may be temporarily disabled (negating the ability to login) for anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes, depending on the amount of SQL database data for each individual entity. We will be running this process only during our regular maintenance periods which include evenings (20:00) through early mornings (04:00) during the week and all day during weekends. This maintenance is NOT expected to impact customers currently using dedicated databases (Data Delivery customers).

ImageSilo Maintenance Notification – Jan. 19, 2018

Start Date: January 19, 2018 (Friday)
Start Time: 20:00 MST
Finish Date: January 22, 2018 (Monday)
Finish Time: 04:00 MST

Purpose: Perform update of load-balancers and modify firewall configurations.

Customer Impact: ImageSilo engineers will be applying an update to the ImageSilo load-balancers and performing general maintenance on the domain infrastructure. Due to the redundant nature of the ImageSilo architecture, customer impact is expected to be limited to two periods of increased latency during failovers. Additionally, ImageSilo engineers will also make minor modifications to ImageSilo firewalls which may result in additional periods of increased latency.

ImageSilo Maintenance Notification – Dec. 16, 2017

Start Date: December 16, 2017 (Saturday)
Start Time: 08:00 (MST)
Finish Date: December 18, 2017 (Monday)
Finish Time: 04:00 (MST)

Purpose: Make SSL/TLS changes on load balancers and modify network topology.

Customer Impact: ImageSilo Engineers will be making changes to our SSL/TLS secure communications by disabling outdated protocols (such as TLS 1.0) and ciphers. This should have no impact on customers using supported browser versions. ImageSilo engineers will also make additional firewall configuration changes. During the validation, engineers will perform manual fail-overs of the firewalls, which are expected to cause brief periods of increased latency.

Questions/Comments: Please feel free to contact ImageSilo Administration with any questions or comments.

ImageSilo Informational Message – Nov. 8, 2017

Date: November 8, 2017 (Wednesday)

In 2015, we introduced the Recycle Bin functionality for ImageSilo, which allows administrators to specify when documents are automatically placed into the Recycle Bin, as well as the length of time documents reside within the Recycle Bin prior to being permanently deleted. All ImageSilo projects created after the Recycle Bin was implemented in 2015 were automatically configured to maintain all deleted documents in the Recycle Bin indefinitely. Projects created prior to that could be configured to do the same. Our objective was to give administrators total control over Recycle Bin retention; taking ImageSilo engineers out of the customer data restoration process.

Historically, ImageSilo’s infrastructure has always maintained customer document files for two months after deletion within internal storage system snapshots. This time period was chosen nearly fifteen years prior to the introduction of the Recycle Bin, and allowed only ImageSilo engineers to recover documents that customers had accidentally deleted. With the introduction of the Recycle Bin in 2015, the need for engineers to recover accidentally deleted documents has been eliminated. As such, ImageSilo will no longer maintain customer backups for the purpose of restoring accidentally deleted customer data. We will, however, continue to maintain backups necessary to accomplish our operational recovery objectives, which requires raw data backups for a length of two weeks. To reiterate, the Recycle Bin control is responsibility of administrators.

Given the flexibility of the Recycle Bin, we are pleased to offer our customers this additional benefit. Please feel free to contact ImageSilo Administration with any questions or comments.

ImageSilo Maintenance Notification – Oct. 27, 2017

Start Date: October 27, 2017 (Friday)
Start Time: 20:00 (MDT)
Finish Date: October 30, 2017 (Monday)
Finish Time: 04:00 (MDT)

Purpose: Storage hardware repair, SSL modifications, preventative maintenance.

Customer Impact: ImageSilo engineers will use this maintenance period to perform multiple functions:

  • Replace failing interface card for storage hardware: Due to the highly redundant nature of ImageSilo’s architecture, customer impact is expected to be limited to two minutes of increased latency as the hardware is replaced and storage paths normalize.
  • Make SSL modifications: ImageSilo engineers will be disabling the old, outdated TLS v1.0 protocol. The vast majority of our customers (those who are using supported browsers) will not be impacted by this change, as those browsers support TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 by default.  A small number of customers using older, unsupported browsers (Internet Explorer 10 or earlier) may need to upgrade their browser or enable TLS 1.1/1.2 in their current browser to connect to ImageSilo. During the transition, customer impact is expected to be elevated latency and/or packet loss for less than two minutes.
  • Perform preventative maintenance: ImageSilo engineers will be performing preventative maintenance, including rebooting some of our authentication servers. No customer impact is expected related to these operations.
