Purpose: Manually failover load balancers to ensure proper operation.

Customer Impact: ImageSilo engineers will manually failover the load balancers through which all ImageSilo traffic traverses. This is being performed due to a non-customer impacting anomaly that was identified earlier this week. Engineers simply want to ensure that, if required, both load balancers are still working correctly. As load balancer failover happens nearly instantaneously, no customer impact is expected.

Purpose: Perform previously scheduled (Apr. 9, 2010) network switching firmware upgrades and expansions as well as move and reorganize servers within racks. These changes were not performed during the previous maintenance due to a switch vendor bug identified by ImageSilo engineers prior to that process. In order to address the bug in a manner that would be minimally disruptive, engineers have devised a new course of action.

Customer Impact: ImageSilo engineers will be performing network switch firmware updates and expanding the network infrastructure. The new firmware upgrade process will require swapping of switches (due to a vendor bug). Due to the redundant nature of the switching architecture, it is expected that this will cause a few brief periods of minor packet loss and latency. Finally, ImageSilo engineers will be completing the server reorganization within racks to accomodate additional new servers in order to provide further redundancy and performance. During the move, the database infrastructure will be manually transitioned to redundant partners. This transition is expected to interupt ImageSilo for approximately two minutes.
