ImageSilo Informational Message – Oct. 21, 2019

Date: October 21, 2019 (Monday)

At approximately 1:53 PM (MDT), a database cluster member experienced a failure. As designed, the database cluster automatically began its failover process to a partner member, which included transaction playback to ensure data integrity. The database cluster was fully restored and operational by 2:12 PM (MDT). Database cluster failover timing is dependent on the volume of data that is “in flight” during a failure as the “in flight” data needs to be processed by the partner member prior to operational status to insure no loss of data. As can be expected, ImageSilo database clusters have a significant volume of data being continuously added and updated. The failed cluster member was replaced and full redundancy has been restored.

As part of our high availability architecture, hardware failures are expected to occur regularly, and this particular failure recovered automatically as designed. A limited number of customers whose data resides on this particular cluster were affected. We apologize for any inconvenience this interuption may have caused. As always, we sincerely appreciate your business.

Purpose: Address degraded database server

Customer Impact: ImageSilo engineers are working with vendors to address the degradation of one of the database clusters. Engineers will work to resolve the issues on the cluster, during which testing may cause brief periods (expected to last approximately 2 minutes) of inaccessibility for some (but not all) customers as the cluster is failed-over.

ImageSilo Maintenance Notification – Oct. 10, 2019

Purpose: Engineers will be performing maintenance on various ImageSilo infrastructure.

Engineers will upgrade the underlying storage system for the FTP download and secure download sites and modify web caching infrastructure.

Customer Impact:  Thursday morning during normal business hours FTP services will  require a restart, resulting in a brief period of service unavailability lasting approximately five minutes for all FTP upload and download sites.  Additional steps performed Friday morning during normal business hours will require a second service restart resulting in an additional service interruption expected to last up to ten minutes for all FTP upload and download sites.

As part of the FTP maintenance migration processing will be suspended from the start of maintenance Thursday morning through the completion on Friday.  Please note that the decision to perform this maintenance during business hours was based on studying FTP usage statistics and timed to minimize customer impact.

Also, ImageSilo Engineers will make changes to the caching infrastructure of ImageSilo.  This may result in transient errors retrieving and attaching documents for up to five minutes.  This update will be performed after 20:00 MDT to minimize customer impact.
