Purpose: Complete ImageSilo’s 2010 server infrastructure upgrade.

Customer Impact: ImageSilo engineers will be completing the server infrastructure upgrade (which has replaced nearly every server in ImageSilo’s network). This final step will require physically moving the network switching components and some servers. The redundant nature of the network architecture coupled with extensive use of NIC teaming should minimize and customer impact. However, there will be necessary cluster failovers on load balancers, firewalls, and database clusters. Most of these failovers (specifically for load balancers and firewalls) typically cause minimal cause very short (less than 5 seconds) periods of increased latency. Database cluster failovers are expected to cause brief periods (expected to be less than 2 minutes) of service impact.

Purpose: An upstream network provider must depeer a redundant ISP connection on a local internet router to reduce the service effect of carrier vendor maintenance.

Purpose: Complete decommissioning process for old Active Directory domain controllers.

Customer Impact: ImageSilo engineers will be restarting the old domain controllers (the ones that were shut down during the previous maintenance) in order to demote them from the domains entirely and then shut them down for good. This marks the final stage of the process for transitioning from the old domain controllers to the new ones. There is a slight chance that some servers could select one of these old domain controllers for authentication affinity during the brief period that each is active while it is being demoted. If that happens, each demotion could cause a brief period (less than 30 seconds) of system non-responsiveness/slowdown while the affected system waits for the timeout before selecting another domain controller.
