Purpose: Disable TCP Chimney Offload on SQL database clusters.
Customer Impact: ImageSilo engineers have identified an issue relating to networking on the SQL database clusters and Microsoft’s implementation of TCP Chimney Offload. Although this issue has not impacted (nor is expected to impact) customers, we believe it would be most prudent to fully address it. After working with Microsoft engineers to identify the cause, both teams believe the next step would be to disable this feature in Microsoft’s network stack. Disabling TCP Chimney Offload will require reboots on all SQL database cluster members for the change to take effect. As such, customer impact is not expected to exceed two interuptions of less than five minutes each while failover occurs.
