ImageSilo Emergency Maintenance Notification – Jan. 10, 2013

Start Date: January 10, 2013 (Thursday)
Start Time: 23:08 (MST)
Finish Date: January 11, 2013 (Friday)
Finish Time: 04:00 (MST)

Purpose: Investigate BGP/routing issues.

Customer Impact: ImageSilo engineers, in coordination with upstream network providers, is investigating unexpected BGP advertisements that appear to be taking ImageSilo network traffic through suboptimal routes. If BGP advertisements are adjusted, a brief period (i.e. less than 30 seconds) of higher than normal latency may be experienced while traffic re-converges.

ImageSilo Maintenance Notification – Jan. 19, 2013

Start Date: January 19, 2013 (Saturday)
Start Time: 05:00 MST
Finish Date: January 19, 2013 (Saturday)
Finish Time: 19:00 MST

Purpose: Our data center operations, in conjunction with electrical vendors, will perform recommended quarterly preventative maintenance on the emergency backup generators and ATS switches.

Customer Impact: There is no customer impact expected during this maintenance window. However, at the conclusion of the routine preventative maintenance, a power outage will be simulated and the facility will run on generator power for approximately 30 minutes. The redundant design of the power infrastructure at this facility, including UPS and Generator, allows for this type of maintenance with little risk to customers. However, as with any power transfer scenario there is increased risk of an outage.

Start Time: 17:00 MST
Finish Date: December 28, 2012 (Friday)
Finish Time: 04:00 MST

Purpose: Replace failed hardware in storage systems.

Customer Impact: ImageSilo engineers will be replacing a failed IOM on a storage tray attached to one of ImageSilo’s storage systems this evening. As the systems are fully redundant, no customer impact is expected.

ImageSilo Maintenance Notification – Nov. 9, 2012

Start Date: November 9, 2012 (Friday)
Start Time: 20:00 (MST)
Finish Date: November 12, 2012 (Monday)
Finish Time: 04:00 (MST)

Purpose: Perform network bandwidth enhancements, database memory management enhancements, and security infrastructure enhancements.

Customer Impact: ImageSilo Engineers plan to make three changes within the ImageSilo architecture:
1 – ImageSilo Engineers will be making changes to ImageSilo’s network infrastructure to increase internet bandwidth. There may be a couple of very short (30 second or less) periods of increased latency and minimal packet loss.
2 – ImageSilo Engineers will be making minor modifications to the SQL database cluster settings to enhance memory management. The settings changes will require one or two manual failovers. For each failover, we expect a single period of service interruption lasting up to two minutes.
3 – ImageSilo Engineers will be making modifications to the firewall devices. No customer impact is expected for these modifications.

Questions/Comments: Please feel free to contact ImageSilo Administration with any questions or comments.

ImageSilo Service Bulletin

A handful of customers have notified us that they have been experiencing slower than expected performance while retrieving documents on ImageSilo this morning. Whereas we work every day to meet or exceed our customers’ expectations, this Service Bulletin is to let you know that we are investigating the issue. We will update you as information becomes available. As always, we appreciate your business.

ImageSilo Maintenance Notification – Oct. 19, 2012

Start Date: October 19, 2012 (Friday)
Start Time: 20:00 (MDT)
Finish Date: October 22, 2012 (Monday)
Finish Time: 04:00 (MDT)

Purpose: Upgrade security and firewall infrastructure.

Customer Impact: ImageSilo engineers will be upgrading (through complete replacement) the ImageSilo security and firewall infrastructure. Months of testing have been performed in order to certify the new infrastructure components and to help ensure all services are transitioned smoothly and quickly. Customer impact is expected to be two periods of inaccessibility (up to 15 minutes each) during the initial transition followed by three to four brief  (two minute) periods of high latency and possible inaccessibility while failover and redundancy tests are performed with the production implementation. Although engineers intend to have completed the entire process by the early morning hours of Saturday, October 20, an extended maintenance period is being reserved to address any unforeseen issues.

Questions/Comments: Please feel free to contact ImageSilo Administration with any questions or comments.

ImageSilo Maintenance Modification – Sept. 24, 2012

Start Date: September 24, 2012 (Monday)
Start Time: 20:00 (MDT)
Finish Date: September 25, 2012 (Monday)
Finish Time: 04:00 (MDT)

Purpose: This is a modification to the maintenance for September 24, 2012. In addition to starting slightly earlier, some additional procedures will be performed. An upstream network provider will be depeering an ISP (as originally noted). Fabric updates will be made to the fibre channel network in preparation for a new SQL database cluster. A static route will be added to the ImageSilo network.

Customer Impact: For the ISP depeering process, customer impact is expected to be limited to a very brief period of high latency and possible packet loss due to BGP convergence for any traffic that must converge to redundant ISPs. Related to the fibre channel network update, we expect a single period of service interruption lasting up to two minutes during a manual cluster failover that we intend to execute as part of the procedure. Finally, we do not expect any customer impact related to the static route addition.

ImageSilo Service Bulletin

This morning (Tuesday, July 24, 2012) , at 07:39 AM MDT, ImageSilo’s database servers began rejecting database connections from the web servers. This resulted in users being unable to access ImageSilo’s services. Engineers were immediately alerted and began troubleshooting the issue. Engineers took the appropriate steps and service was fully restored at 07:51 AM MDT, 12 minutes later. Since then, engineers have been investigating the cause of the issue. Microsoft, the database software vendor, has been engaged. At this time, it appears this issue may have been caused by a bug in the database software for which there is a hot fix. However, the investigation is ongoing and it appears that there is still a significant amount of work to be done. Once completed, engineers will take the necessary steps address any underlying issues. If any of those actions will affect customers, a maintenance notification will be issued.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this morning’s interruption. As always, we greatly appreciate your business. Rest assured that we are as vigilant as ever to make sure we earn your business every day.
