Purpose: Upgrade switching infrastructure firmware.
Customer Impact: Through working with the equipment vendor to address yesterday’s Emergency Maintenance relating to network switching, it was determined that an updated firmware version may offer fixes that address issues that were manifested in the port flapping and spanning tree incidents. As such, ImageSilo Engineering has determined that the most prudent course of action would be to perform these upgrades as soon as reasonably possible. The upgrade has been performed in a lab environment and tests indicate that the upgrade takes takes about 8 minutes for the switches to fully restart as this is upgrade is not a rolling (non-disruptive) upgrade. Engineers will be performing the upgrade at the Kansas City facility during the day tomorrow (these systems are backup systems, not customer facing or impacting) and will then perform the upgrade at the primary facility in Denver tomorrow evening. The upgrade at the primary facility is expected to cause approximately 8 to 10 minutes of service interuption while the switching equipment fully reboots.
